Gift of the DayThere are no bad days. Some are so-so, some are good, and some are downright momentous. Today falls in the latter category.
Any day that we move and breathe and have our being is pure miracle, if you ask me. We – frail, random collections of cells that carry consciousness (and a conscience, if we’re lucky) - through no merit of our own, have been given the gift of life. How we spend that gift is what qualifies each day. I just spent mine writing the final chapter in the first draft of my third novel. I am exceedingly proud of myself. I am also humbled. I could have chosen to waste this day, and all of those that preceded it since I began writing. But thankfully, somewhere along the line I realized that no matter what I do, I can never give myself another day to replace one I’ve squandered. I’m the consumer, not the Creator. The best I can do is share the gift(s) I’ve been given. And the more we share, the more momentous days we’ll have.
